“I must be insane!” – those were the words I uttered to myself a few weeks ago, as I signed up for my first Spartan Race. In a little under 6 months from now, I will be climbing over fences, walking through fire and mud, and doing something I haven’t done in over 10 years: competing. I have been dying to do a mud run for about 2 years now, but a combination of circumstances, priorities and pure laziness have kept me from doing so.
I know it won’t be easy, as I will have to train, eat clean, and rescue the athlete that has been buried under motherhood, lots of hours at a computer, and lots of beer. All while trying to balance the pressures of a career, motherhood and dating (!!!). Here I’ll be journaling my progress, reviewing the gadgets, workouts, training plans and tools, and sharing anything I may learn along the way.
— And, just as a reminder…. I’m not a doctor, a professional trainer, or in any way an expert at anything other than software development. So take my advice with a grain of salt and ALWAYS consult your doctor before starting a fitness regimen.
